Sponsors are a necessity to our team. Whether in the form of larger corporate sponsors or coming from individual people, we are always in need of support to help make robotics accessible to all interested students. Robotics offers so many great opportunities to prepare students for college and careers, such as teamwork, mechanical knowledge, problem solving, time management, and so many more.
Unfortunately it requires a great amount of funding to keep this opportunity open to all students. As our lead mentor Mr. Farrell says, “This is not a cheap hobby.” To enter a regional, it costs our team about $5,000. We usually compete in two regionals, because this gives us a higher chance of winning, so this cost is doubled. If we are fortunate enough to compete in the World Championships (to be held in Detroit this year), the cost of registration for that tournament is also $5,000. The total value of each robot is about $4,000-$5,000, and we build two robots so that the different subteams can always be improving them, so the cost for the robots is about $10,000. In addition to these costs, we have to be able to purchase tools when needed, as well as to provide transportation to events and to stay at hotels at events. In total, our annual operating cost is about $40,000.
To help defray these costs, we seek funding from sponsors. These are comprised of corporate sponsors and individual sponsors.
Corporate Sponsors
Corporate sponsors are our largest base of funding. We rely on them many forms of support in addition to money. The corporate sponsors help by supplying mentors, materials, and software, so that we are able to gain valuable adult guidance, program our robot and create computer versions of the robot.

Individual Sponsors
A growing part of our funding base is comprised of individual sponsors. These are people who have felt that what we do helps our community, and have generously given us a tax-deductible gift to help us continue doing what we love. These people are called Supporters of CORE (SCORE) and are given extra benefits such as their name on our website.
