Consensus (Part 1)

Hello! Kickoff is only 23 days away, and we are down to our last few meetings. To help us prepare, we are doing two things tonight that are both critical to us being able to compete this season. The first thing that is going on is drive team practice. This consists of perspective drivers using our robot chassis from the 2015 and 2014 games to test their skills doing a number of tasks so that we will have the best drivers possible.

The other thing that we are doing tonight to prepare us for the coming season is a practice consensus. As we have mentioned before, consensus is how our team decides on a general idea of our robot’s functions, missions, and strategies. Since we do not have the rules for Stronghold yet, we are using the 2009 game, Lunacy, to help us practice. We chose this game to practice with for many reasons, but one of the main reasons is that while we did compete in this game at both the Wisconsin Regional and the 10,000 Lakes Regional, none of the current student team members were on the team to do it, so this will be a new challenge for most of us. The practice consensus will happen both today and next Tuesday, which will be our last substance based meeting of 2016.

The reason for this is that next Thursday, December 22, will be our yearly Christmas party. This will last from 5-8 PM, with alumni welcome. In the meantime, have a great weekend, and we hope to see you there!
