Happy Pi Day! Last weekend March 8-9, CORE competed in the Midwest Regional at the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago. Our team advanced to finals with our alliance winning second place; more importantly, we won the esteemed Chairman’s Award for the first time in CORE’s 13 year history qualifying us for FIRST Championship. “The Chairman’s Award is the most prestigious award in FIRST® Robotics Competition. The award recognizes a team that reflects sustained excellence and impact within the FIRST community, in its own community, and beyond.”

In preparation for the upcoming Milwaukee Regional on March 28-30 at the Milwaukee Panther Arena, subteams are actively refining our practice robot. The Programming subteam is improving the Waypoint Follower, and Mechanical has replaced the hatch manipulators. Scoutagy is troubleshooting problems with the comment section on match reports, enabling our team to create access details about future alliance partners and opponents. Controls rewired the practice robot and the Safety subteam has updated the injury report documents.

The Outreach subteam has given tours to the WEPA Governance Board, published a press release (which you can find here), and sent a letter to our sponsors, telling them about our accomplishment. (Winning the Chairman’s Award!)

Until then, CORE is refining our presentations for judges and improving our robot in preparation for the Wisconsin Regional, and for the World Championship in Detroit. We will continue to provide updates on our progress in our weekly blog posts.
