2009 10,000 Lakes

In 2009 C.O.R.E. attended the 10,000 Lakes Regional in Minnesota for the first time. We had made some modifications to the robot since the Milwaukee Regional. We made the conveyor pick up the ball faster by changing sprockets on the robot. With new life, we sent Mizuki out onto the playing field. Again we took some hard hits and had to keep up with continual maintenance on our robot. Once again, we made it to the semi finals with teams 2741 and 2574 where we got eliminated after losing 2 of our 3 matches. It was the first year C.O.R.E. would not go to Atlanta for the Championship and everyone was very disappointed, but we were all grateful for the journey we experienced and everything we had learned that year. Once again we did not go home with nothing to show for our hard work and efforts; we ended up winning the Autodesk Visualization Award, the Motorola Quality Award, and the UL Industrial Safety Award. We packed up the robot and started the long trek home, already thinking and dreaming about new ideas and strategies for next year’s competitions.
