Our name stands for Community of Robotic Engineers, and that is just what we are-we are from Waukesha, Wisconsin and accept students from any three of our community high schools. We are part of a larger organization called FIRST. To read more about them, read the section below. We pair them up with great mentors who teach them the fundamentals of robotics and other life skills.
Read MoreEveryone seemed excited to start the robot, but one problem was we hadn’t decided on the design yet. We started with listing the pros and cons of both the “Pelé” and the “Scissors Hook”. The voting for designs was done “old-fashioned” style, but the total for each was about even. It took about four hours to finally reach consensus, and when we did, everyone was relieved. We chose the “Pelé” design. Teams separated, and the building began.
