Week 3 of the 2013 Buildseason

Week 3 EmmaWeek 3 has been a great week for C.O.R.E. Most of the subteams have caught up with any uncompleted work and we have made a lot of progress during our long days at C.O.R.E. this week. Now that we’re entering the second half of build season, we have to keep on schedule. The robot is coming together rather nicely. Newcomers might think that room 108 is chaotic, with people working busily everywhere you look. The mechanical subteam is all over the place, drilling parts, assembling them, walking to and from the shop. Chairman’s, Animation, CAD, Programming, Website, and Scoutagy are typing and clicking away. To those of us on C.O.R.E., we see organized chaos! All of us have things to do, and we work together like a well-oiled machine. Devotion to C.O.R.E. keeps us going.
Good luck to C.O.R.E. and all FIRST Robotics teams for the rest of the build season!

C.O.R.E. Diary: Saturday, January 26, 2013

Dear Diary,
Today, rock music from the mechanical team rolls around the workshop bright and early, as they continue to work hard building the robot. The other subteams are not idle as they themselves take on various tasks. It is because of our devotion to C.O.R.E, and caffeinated soda, we make an effort to not let exhaustion interfere with our work and we get a good deal of things done. In addition, C.O.R.E. is happy to report that our work for our weekly column in the Freeman was submitted last Tuesday, and we look forward to seeing it soon.

C.O.R.E. is in the Freeman!

C.O.R.E. is very proud to announce that we now have a weekly column in the Waukesha Freeman. While we have been noted in the Freeman before, this is something new for us. To prepare, we have talked to some mentors and journalists about news writing and writing informational pieces. The Chairman’s subteam has even begun the writing process with help and advice from our mentors and other experienced writers. Sometime next week, grab a copy of the Freeman and check us out!

C.O.R.E. Diary: Saturday, January 19, 2013

Dear Diary,
Another long day at C.O.R.E.! It seems like we’ve made a lot of progress today, and we are mostly back on schedule. Work on our column in the Waukesha Freeman has begun, and we are all very excited to see our own writing in a published newspaper. The mechanical subteam is busy working on the robot and fabricating parts. Excitement (and exhaustion) from build season is already starting to show. This past week has been especially long due to semester finals in school, but now that it is over, everyone is ready to work hard! Keep it up, C.O.R.E.!

Week 2 of the 2013 Buildseason

Week 2 whiteboard

Week two of build season is coming along swimmingly for C.O.R.E. 2062. We have recently begun to build our robot. The robot’s various parts are being built separately, for future assembly. Our subteams that work on the robot are continually collaborating to make sure every component works with the others. In addition, Chairman’s, Website, Animation, and Scouting are all continuing to work on the various specialties. The Autodesk award being no longer in existence, so our animation people have adapted to do safety animations. We, at C.O.R.E., are quite adaptable.

C.O.R.E. Diary: Saturday, January 12, 2013

Dear Diary,

It’s week one of the build season, and all around, people are stirring up ideas from straight out of the ground. They grow and they mingle from day to day. They are becoming a colossus of ideas, relating to game play.

Ideas soon take the form of reality. Prototypes are built to convey that they are, indeed, within the realms of legality. Engineers, here, are hard at work. Displaying ideas under the watchful eyes of our mentors.

The telling of what we are doing, exactly, we shall make rather vague. We are making decisions in the effort not to get behind. Frisbees, pyramids and goals are ingrained into each and every mind, as we put our noses to the grind.

Week 1 of the 2013 Buildseason

Week 1 hookCORE 2062 is having a rather interesting, trying and fun first week of build season. We have finally reached consensus on the design of our robot and the mechanical team has been put to work. The rest of the team is working as well, and are dispersed thorough the engineering rooms. The ideas are great and the people even greater. We are looking forward to the challenge ahead of us.

C.O.R.E. Diary: Monday, January 7, 2013

Dear Diary,
It’s the first meeting after Kickoff! Today we presented our ideas for the robot. After all of the ideas are presented, we will start the consensus process. We can’t wait! All of the team members are working hard on each of their tasks. The Mechanical subteam is busy preparing for building. Chairman’s, Website, Programming, Animation, and CAD are typing away at the computers. In the hallway, prototypes are being tested for more idea presentations tomorrow. We can all hear their cheers as their new ideas become successful. It’s been a long day, but it’s just the start of what will be the best build season ever!

Kickoff 2013

C.O.R.E. 2062 attended the 2013 kickoff on January 5th with anticipation in our hearts. Who wouldn’t be excited for the unveiling of an epic new playing field as well as the fabulous rule book? The pyramid intrigued us as well as the idea of shooting Frisbees into the goals. Needless to say, that day we were avidly discussing the various aspects of the game and the best strategies to use. It took a while, but we made great progress in this area. We are looking forward to setting our ideas into motion throughout the upcoming season.
